Fr Augustus Muller SJ was the grandson of Mr Augustine Muller, who was the teacher of
Dr Samuel Hahnemann Founder of Homoeopathic System of Medicine when the latter was at
School. Fr Muller dedicated himself to the service of ailing and suffering humanity
through Homoeopathy. The committed teaching faculty of Homoeopathic Medical College
has been following the foot prints of the founder in providing care to the needy
and thus achieving PATIENT CARE, LEARNER CARE, AND KNOWLEDGE CARE in true sense.
Father Muller Charitable Institutions had a humble beginning 130 years ago when
Fr. Augustus Muller SJ began his free Homoeopathic clinic under a Banyan tree at
Kankanady Hills. Inspired by an overwhelming response from the public and a genuine
desire to help the practitioners to use genuine Homoeopathic medicines, he started
a Manufactory more than a century ago. Fr Muller’s contribution to the spreading
and publicizing this Holistic system to Southern and other parts of India is significant.
Fr Muller, the first Indian Repertorian, has many Homoeopathic books to his credit.
Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College, an Institute of Integral Homoeopathic
Medical Education, Training and Research, was founded in 1985 after a resolution made
on the occasion of centenary celebrations of Fr Muller’s Charitable Institutions.
Since then it has developed into a unique and important centre for Education and
Clinical training in Homoeopathic system of Medicine. Graduates of this Institution
have proved their competence and efficiency by practicing successfully this system
of rational healing art.
Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College is a unit of Fr. Muller's Charitable
Institutions, a Registered Society sponsored by the Catholic Diocese of Mangalore;
a Religious Minority Educational Institution established primarily for the benefit
of the members of the Christian Community. Like all other Educational Institution
under Catholic auspices it is open to all persons irrespective of religion, caste
or community. The courses conducted in this college are affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi
University of Health Sciences, Karnataka and are recognized by the Central Council
of Homoeopathy, New Delhi.
Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College has well equipped O.P.D.
and 75 bedded I.P.D.
It conducts several free medical camps and runs ten regular village clinics. The college
has extended its services to St. Antony’s Poor Home and Prashanth Nivas as in-patient
departments. The teaching faculty along with junior doctors and students render
all these services. In all these activities proper care is taken to provide
experiential learning to our students.
The 25 years old Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College is a centre for
Post –Graduate studies. The various committees appointed by various authorities
for inspection and recommendation were uniformly appreciative of the infrastructure
and facilities available and the dedicated work of the institution in fathering
the cause of homoeopathic education. Now the institution is conducting Post
Graduate training in all 7 subjects having the approval of the Rajiv Gandhi
University of Health Sciences, the Directorate of the Indian System of Medicine
and Homoeopathy and the Central Council of Homoeopathy.
Objectives
- To promote the science and system of Homoeopathy and to bring it to serve the common man.
- Train young men and women in homoeopathic medicine and develop in them such skills as
are needed to render effective health care to the suffering humanity.
- To in still in the students a spirit of dedication and commitment after
the example of the founder, Fr Augustus Muller.
- To make homoeopathy a more effective system of medicine through systematic
documentation and researches.
The Specific Objectives of Post Graduate Programme
- To explore the scientific aspect of Homoeopathy and bridge the gap between theory
and practice.
- To promote clinical and academic research in the field of Homoeopathy so that
the outcome can be used for training students and serving the ailing and suffering humanity.
- To involve the qualified and competent Homoeopathic graduates in various project
works in order to promote the science and art of Homoeopathy.
