World Cancer Day 2016

The World Cancer Day was observed at Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College on 5th February 2016. The Department of Materia Medica and Organon of Medicine and Homoeopathic Philosophy jointly hosted a seminar on the topic, “Encounter Cancer”.

The convener of the programme was Dr Blany Lobo and co-convener Dr Sajan. Chief speaker of the day was Dr Hasib, Professor and HOD of Radiotherapy, Father Muller Medical College & Hospital, who spoke on the topic “Multidisciplinary Approach to the Treatment of Cancer”. It was a wonderful and knowledgeable session and many queries from students and staff were cleared.

The second session began with Dr Roshan Pinto, Professor, Dept. of Organon of Medicine who spoke on “Homoeopathic Approach to Cancers”. He illustrated with case presentations. The session broke up for lunch and reassembled for the noon session which began with Dr Ranjan Britto, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Organon, who spoke on “Management of GI Malignancies”. The last speaker of the day was Dr Guruprasad M.N who presented a research paper on “Annona Muricata as an efficacious remedy for cancer”.

Seminar on Statistics

The Research & development Committee of FMHMC conducted a one day Seminar on Biostatistics, on 3rd February 2016. The resource person was Dr Gangaboriah, Professor, Community Medicine, Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences, Bengaluru.

The resource person elaborately and lucidly explained the basic tenets of research methodology and biostatistics. The Staff and Post graduates were very much benefitted by the seminar.

Dermatology Screening and Treatment Camp

A Screening Camp was conducted by Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College at various Government Schools nearby. A team of Doctors that included Post graduates, Interns as well as Staff attended the camp.

The total number of students screened in 6 days was 1026 and amongst whom 501 students who required medical attention were referred to Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College Hospital.

Apart from screening, our Post Graduates and Interns gave Awareness Talks for the students.

Treatment camp was conducted from 27.01.16 to 31.01.2016 at Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College Hospital. A total of 113 patients received the benefits from this camp.

General Medical Camp at Dharma Jyothi Seva Samsthe, Vamanjoor

A General Medical Camp was organized jointly by Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College Hospital and Dharma Jyothi Seva Samasthe at Vamanjooru on Sunday the 3rd of January 2016 between 09.30 – 2.00 PM. The team leader was Dr Mini I V. The medium of communication was in Kannada & Malayalam.

The diseases prevalent in the locality were Joint, Skin & Respiratory complaints. A total 98 patients were Screened and Treated for various ailments. Those patients who required further medical attention were referred to FMHMCH, Deralakatte.

NAAC Peer Team visit at FMHMC

The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) Peer team visited father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College from 25th to 27th of September 2014. The Chairperson of the peer team was Dr G N V Brahmam, Former Deputy Director and Scientist, National Institute of nutrition, ICMR. The member co-ordinator was Prof. Dr Bibhu Prasad Panda, Principal & Hospital Superintendent, Rajkot homoeopathic Medical College, Gujarat and member of the peer team, Prof. Dr Farooq F Motiwala, Principal, Motiwala Homoeopathic medical College, Nashik. NAAC is an autonomous body established by UGC for the purpose of upholding the quality of Higher education in India. On 27th the Chairperson Dr G N V Brahmam, handed over the NAAC report to the Principal during the Exit Meet held at 12.30 PM.

Teachers' Day Celebration - Chiron' 14

The Student Council with the Management organized Teacher’s day celebration as every year on 5th September 2014 in the College auditorium. Rev Fr Richard Coelho, Administrator, FMMCH, was the chief guest.

The programme commenced at 1.45 pm, greeting the faculty members individually with roses at the entrance of the College Auditorium. The faculty members were felicitated by the chief guest with a gift followed by his message. Rev.Fr Vincent Vinod Saldanha, Administrator, FMHMCH also felicitated few staff and gave his message.

Traditional offering of “Gurudakshina” to the faculty was done then by the student representatives.

It was followed with a small cultural programme and fun games for the faculty members. 

Onam Celebration 2014

The Student Council took the initiative to celebrate ONAM, the most popular festival of Kerala on behalf of the students from Kerala.

It was celebrated as on 10th September 2014.

They designed a floral carpet at the entrance of the college which is the tradition carried out for 10 days in Kerala & the 10th day being celebrated as onam. Majority of the students irrelevant of the state they belong, came in traditional Kerala attire; girls in Kerala saree and boys in Dhoti making the campus a mini Kerala All students & faculty had sumptuous lunch “Onam Sadhya” with a variety of dishes and payasam in the hostel.

The programme commenced in the College auditorium at 5.00 pm. Rev.Fr Vincent Vinod Saldanha, Administrator, FMHMC & H, Principal Dr Shivprasad K, Vice Principal Dr Prabhukiran, Cultural Co ordinator Dr Sheena Salin and few staff members joined the celebration.

Then was the arrival of “Mahabali”, depicting the history of onam celebration marking the homecoming of king Mahabali, the legendery king during whose period people lived in prosperity and harmony. Maveli wished all a "happy onam". It was followed by various cultural programmes and games by the students.

National Workshop on Repertory

A National Repertory Workshop was conducted by the Department of Repertory on 31stAugust 2014 from 2PM to 6PM. The Workshop began with prayer song by students, followed by lighting the lamp by the dignitaries. The welcome speech was given by Dr Rita Chakraborty, HOD Department of Repertory. Administrator, Rev Fr Vincent Saldanha and Principal, Dr Shivaprasad gave their message on the occasion. Vote of thanks was delivered by Dr Anita Lobo, professor Department of Repertory.

The Resource persons for the workshop were Dr Shashi Kanth Tiwari, Former Director, NIH Former Principal of FMHMC and Dr Rita Chakraborty, Professor and HOD, Department of Repertory. The sessions were well appreciated by the audience; more than 150 delegates attended the workshop.

Inauguration of BHMS & MD Courses

Inauguration of the 2014-15 batch of Postgraduate students was held on 5th Sept 2014 and that of Undergraduate students was held on 6th Sept 2014.

Health Education Programme & General Medical Camp at Surathkal

A Health Education Programme and a General Medical Camp were organized by Catholic Sabha at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Surathkal on Sunday, 24.08.14. The doctors’ team was lead by Dr Roshan Pinto. The language of communication was in Kannada, Konkani and English. In total 170 patients were examined and treated. The Post graduates were involved in case taking and registration. The interns performed physical examination and dispensed medicines.

CCH Workshop on "Compulsory Internship Training"

Central Council of Homoeopathy organized a Workshop on "Compulsory Internship Training", in association with Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College, on 22nd and 23rd August 2014, at the college auditorium. 

The dignitaries Rev Fr Patrick Rodrigues, Director , FMCI, Dr Ramjee Singh, President, CCH, Dr M K Sahani, Chairman, Education Committee, CCH Dr B T Rudresh, Executive Committee Member, CCH, Dr R K Manchanda, Director General, CCRH, Dr Jose Issac, Chairman, Committee for Excellence in Homoeopathic Education, CCH, Dr S M Singh, Chairman, PG Education Committee, CCH, Dr Eswara Das, Consultant Advisor, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, GOI, Dr L K Nanda, Member, Education Committee, CCH, Dr A L Patil, Member, Finance Committee, CCH, Dr Manilal, Member, Education Committee, CCH, Dr Ashis Datta, Assistant Secretary Technical, CCH, Rev. Fr. Vincent Vinod Saldanha, Administrator, FMHMCH,Dr Shivaprasad, Principal, FMHMC were present for the programme.

38 delegates from all over South India participated in this workshop to enrich themselves in adopting methods to provide an effective training to the interns during the internship programme.

On the first day, the resource persons for the sessions were Dr Eswara Das, Dr R K Manchanda, Dr L K Nanda, Dr Prabhakar Devadiga, and Dr M K Sahani and on the second day, they were Dr Manisha Solanki, Prof. Dr Shekhar S Rajderkar, Dr Hitesh Purohit, Dr Pralay Sharma, and Dr Mihir Pareek.

Independence Day Celebration at FMHMC

68th Indian Independence was celebrated at FMHMC, on 15th August 2014. Rev.Fr.Gerald Pinto was the Chief Guest, who hoisted the National Flag. It was followed by the tableau competition for the students on the theme 'Independent India'

Breast Feeding Week

Dept. of AYUSH, Dakshina Kannada and Dept of Paediatrics of FMHMC organized a programme on breast feeding as a street play, to convey the message about benefits of breast feeding, at Primary health Centre, Ullal, Mangalore, on 6th August 2014. Around 60 ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activists) and the PHC staff attended the programme.

Vanamahotsava 2014

NSS unit of FMHMC observed the annual tree planting festival at Father Muller Botanical Garden, on 6th August 2014. The event was organized by Dr Ranjan Britto, NSS Co-ordinator, FMHMC. Founder Director, Rev.Fr.Peter Noronha shared his views on and importance of plants in preserving the ecosystem. As a symbolic representation of Vanamahotsava, saplings of medicinal plants were planted, in the presence of the staff and students of the college.

PRERANA 2014

PRERANA, an Intercollegiate Literary and cultural competition for the students of Pre-Univesity students of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts was hosted by FMHMC, for the 6th consecutive year, on 1st and 2nd August 2014.

The competitions held were Essay writing (English & Kannada), eastern singing and quiz.

World Hepatitis Day 2014

In view of World Hepatitis Day, the Dept. of Community Medicine, FMHMC, in association with Dept. of Parctice of Medicine and Pathology, FMHMC organized an interdepartmental workshop, on 28.07.14. The resource persons were Dr Prasanna Kumar, Dr Sheena Sali, Dr M K Kamath, Dr Dhole and Dr Anusha. IVBHMS students actively involved themselves in preparing information charts on Hepatitis, in Kannada and English

Medical Camp at Bedrampalla School

A General Medical Camp was conducted by FMHMC, under the leadership of Dr Revan BL, at Bedrampalla School. Health Awareness talks were delivered by the postgraduates. Interns helped in registration and dispensing. about 89 patients were benefited.

General Medical Camp at Adyanadka

A General Medical Camp was conducted by FMHMC, in association with CODP, at Saya Community Hall, Adyanadka under the leadership of Dr Mini I V. PGs and Interns were also part of the camp. A total of 106 patients were benefited.

Doctors' Day 2014

Doctors' Day was celebrated at Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College, on 25.07.2014, to commemorate the devoted services of Dr B.C.Roy, in the field of medicine. Dr.B.N.Prakash, Student Welfare Officer, RGUHS & Former Director of AYUSH was the Chief Guest. Rev. Fr Patrick Rodrigues, Director, FMCI also attended the function.

General Homoeopathic Medical Camp

A General Homoeopathic Mediacl Camp was organized at Chembarika, Kasaragod, on 12.07.14. Dr Sunny Mathew, Medical Superintendent, FMHMCH was the team leader, assisted by Dr Mini.I.V and other Postgraduates and interns. about 158 patients were benefited by the camp.

Homoeopathic Medical camp at Beeramangala

A Homoeopathic Medical Camp was organized at Beeramangala, Sullia on 5.7.14, Saturday by St.Brigid Church and Chaitanya Homoeo Care. The team leader Dr Deepa Pais gave a talk on upbringing of the children and the problems faced during the same with some light on nutrition. Dr Shwetha and Dr Shasikala, the PG students spoke on the common health problems of the children. A total of 450 people benefitted from the talk. This was followed by medical check up and treatment. A total of 146 patients were given medicines.

AYUSH Arogya Abhiyana

A Homoeopathic General Medical Camp was organized by District AYUSH Department in Narla Padil at Talapady on Sunday, 06.07.2014 in view of AYUSH AROGYA ABHIYANA.

A medical team comprising Staff, Post Graduates and Interns led by Dr Jacintha Monteiro rendered their services to coordinate and run the camp.

The camp was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Health Minister, Mr U.T Khader. Dr Shivaprasad, Principal, Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College was the Guest Speaker. The Post Graduate students gave awareness talks and also assisted in examining those visited the camp. The interns took part in dispensing the medicines.

Parents Teachers & Students Association meeting

Parents, Teachers and Student Association(PTSA) meetings were held at Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College Auditorium on 4th July 2014 for I & II BHMS students and on 5th July 2014 for III & IV BHMS Students.

Mrs Rejini George, Chief Learning officer, ProTrack Education, at Yenepoya University conducted classes for parents.

The Meeting was successful as Parents and Teachers shared common platform to discuss the academic and extracurricular activities of students. The parents were briefed with their wards attendance and academic performances. The Coordinator of the Programme was Dr Rita Chakraborty.

asic life support training for Interns

A Training programme was organized on Basic Life Support for the Interns 2014 on 5th& 7th June 2014, at Father Muller Medical College.  Dr. Shreedhara Avabratha K. Professor, Department of Paediatrics from Father Muller Medical College was the Resource Person for this training programme.

Free dental Screening, Best Smile Competition & Talk on Oral Hygiene

Women Guidance and Counselling Committee organized a Free Dental Screening, Best Smile Competition and Talk on Oral Hygiene for the female Staff of Father Muller Homoeopathic medical College, on 26.05.14. A team of doctors from Dept. of Public Health Dentistry, Manipal College of Dental Sciences & Hospital screened the female staff of the college that numbered 40.

General Medical Health Camp at Nellikkunnu

A General Medical Camp was held at Nellikunnu, Kasaragod, Kerala, under the leadership of Dr Sunny Mathew.

Inauguration of Student Association - 2014

The Student Association for the year 2014-15 was inaugurated on 28.04.2014. Dr Rajshekhar, Director, Curriculum Development, KSHEMA was the Chief Guest.

The Formal programme began with invoking God’s Blessings through a prayer song. Dr Girish Navada, Staff Advisor of Student Association gave his welcome address. It was followed by lighting the lamp by the Chief Guest and other dignitaries on the stage. Dr Shivaprasad K, Principal declared the new office bearers for the year. Rev Fr Vincent Vinod Saldanha, Administrator, administered the oath to Mr Anand Krishna, Ms Keerthana, Ms Blessan Thomas, Mr Bipin Joy, Ms Meenu Maria Mathew and Class representatives as office bearers of the student association 2014-15.

Later the Chief Guest, in his message congratulated the former council and wished the fresh bearers a success. Mr Chandrashekhar, Council President, 2013-14 gave his farewell speech followed by the acceptance speech of Council President 2014-15. The Administrator presented a memento to the Chief Guest and delivered his presidential address. Ms Keerthana proposed the vote of thanks followed by Institution Anthem.

World Health Day 2014

The Department of Community Medicine in association with Dept of Medicine of Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College observed World health Day on 7th April 2014 in the college auditorium.  Dr Sudir Prabhu, M.D, Assistant Professor of Community medicine, Father Muller Medical College, Mangalore was the chief guest. 

During his talk he emphasized on importance of observing World Health Day, Theme for the year, Small bite – Big Threat. 

Hahnemann's Day celebration 2014

To commemorate the birthday of Dr Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann, a Mega Health Camp was organized at Thokkottu, on 10.04.14

The formal function of the Hahnemann’s Day Celebration - 2014 took place on 12thApril at 9.00 AM. Shree P B Harish Rai, President, D.K Working Journalists Union was the Chief Guest and Dr Shaji Kumar, Scientist II, CCRH, Govt. of India was the Guest of Honour. 

Dr Shaji Kumar spoke on the properties and qualities of water that would help to identify the mechanism of action of homoeopathic medicines which will provide a scientific basis and also motivated everyone to involve in research activities.

It was followed by Drug picture presentation competition for the students.

Thanksgiving by the 24th batch of Interns

A Thanksgiving programme was organized by the 24th batch of interns for the teaching staff of FMHMC, on 02.04.14

Medical Camp at Omzoor Church Hall

A Homoeopathic Medical Camp was organized by Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College at Omzoor Church Hall on the 31st of March 2014, under the leadership of Dr Blany Lobo. The Mahila Sanghatan Samithi of Omzoor Church helped in arranging the halls and providing refreshments. Rev Fr James D’ Souza, Parish Priest of Omzoor Church was kind enough to come, bless and inaugurate the camp.

World TB day 2014

The Department of Community Medicine of Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College observed World TB Day on 24th March 2014. Dr Sanjeev Badiger, Professor of Community Medicine, KSHEMA, Deralakatte, was the Chief Guest.

Training programme on Front Office Management

Women Guidance and Counselling Committee organized a training programme on “Front Office Management” for the non teaching staff of college office and hospital on 18.3.14.

Mr Charles Pais, Associate Professor and H.O.D, Dept. of Secretarial Practice, St Agnes College, Mangalore was the resource Person. The speaker interacted with the gathering and also involved the group in mini exercises, that would aid a professional front office function.

Medical Camp at Madankappu

Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College Hospital, Thumbe unit conducted a Free General Medical Health Camp at Madankappu Church Hall on 16.03.14, under the leadership of Dr Blany LoboOphthalmologist, Dr Bhadrinath, Consultant at Thumbe also attended the camp and rendered his service.

Dr Mukesh Batra Homoeopathy Scholarship Awards were conferred to the following students during the Institution Day cum Graduation ceremony on 13.03.2014.

Graduation Day 2014

Father Muller Charitable Institutions celebrated the Institutions’ day cum Graduation Ceremony on March 13, 2014.

Dr. V.M Katoch, Secretary (Department of Health Research), Government of India and Director General, Indian Council of Medical Research was the Chief Guest. Dr. Anil K. D’Cruz, Director, Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai was the Guest of Honour. Most Rev. Dr Aloysius Paul D’ Souza, Bishop of Mangalore Diocese, President of FMCI, presided over the function. Rev. Fr. Patrick Rodrigues, Director, FMCI welcomed the gathering.

81 students from Father Muller Homeopathic Medical College received graduation certificates and took part in oath taking.

7 undergraduate and 6 postgraduate students secured ranks for their outstanding performance in the University Examinations conducted by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences held in the year 2013.

Womens' day celabration - 2014

The OBG Out-patient department of FMHMCH organised a Free Health Check up camp for women from 03/03/14 to 08/03/14 at Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital, Deralakatte. It included Free Check up, free treatment, free Investigations and at concessional rate for hormonal essays, thyroid function test, Pap smear and ultrasound.

On 08/03/14, FMHMC organised a programme was organised for the staff, students and Patients. The Chief Guest of the function was Dr. Supriya Rai KSHMC.

On this occasion an Essay & Extempore competitions were organized for the students of FMHMC

Non-teaching staff picnic

Women Guidance and Counseling committee of Father Muller Homoeopathic medical College organized a picnic for the non-teaching staff members of the college to Thanirbhavi beach on 02.03.14.

General Medical Health Camp at Uliathadka, Kasaragod

A Rural General Medical Health Camp was organized by Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College at Ulithadukka, Kasargod on 27.02.14. The camp included Health awareness talks by Post Graduates and consultations. The medium of communication was in Kannada and Malayalam. The interns took care of registration, examination of the patients and dispensing of medicines. The team was led by Dr Sajan K.R & Dr Mini I.V.

General Medical Health Camp at Bakilapadav

A Rural General Medical Health Camp was organized by CODP in association with FMHMC, at Bakilapadav on 25.02.14. Women among the labour class of that locality utilized the opportunity. The medium of communication was in Kannada and Malayalam. The diseases prevalent were noted to be osteoarthritis, cataract and skin disorders. The Post Graduates assisted the camp by giving health awareness talks in Kannada. The interns took care of registration, examination of the patients and dispensing of medicines. The team was led by Dr.Mini I.V.

Yoga classes for the students of FMHMC

Yoga classes started for all students of  Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College from 3rd Feb 2014. The classes are conducted by Dr Chandrashekar ( MSc, Yogic Science) from Integral Yoga Satsanga. The classes are held from 6-7 a.m daily and from 6-7 p.m for the student sisters.

The department of Community Medicine of Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College observed World Cancer Day on 4th February 2014 in the college auditorium.  Dr Prasanna Mithra, MBBS, MD, DNB, Associate Professor of Community medicine from Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore was the Chief Guest. In his talk he emphasised the importance of observing world cancer day, epidemiological determinants of cancer, prevention of cancer etc.

65th Republic Day Celebration at FMHMC

The 65th Republic Day was observed at Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College on Sunday the 26th of Jan 2014. It began with a prayer song by Miss Aisha Bismi and team. Dr Shivaprasad, the Principal was the Chief Guest, hoisted the flag escorted by Mr Bipin Joy. The Chief Guest addressed the wardens of hostels, students’ council, Interns, UG and PG students who had gathered on the occasion. Rev. Fr Vincent Vinod Saldhana graced the event. The MC of the programme was Miss. Krishna Manasa, Final year Student. A patriotic song was sung by a group of students led by Miss. Shruthi G.P, Final Year Student.

General Medical Camp at Perumbala, Kasaragod

A General Medical camp was organized at Perumbala, Kasargod on 18-01-2014. Dr Sunny Mathew, Medical Superintendent, FMHMC addressed the visitors after a formal inauguration in which he highlighted the relevance of Homoeopathic mode of treatment. The camp was organized by Dr Sajan & Dr Mini.I.V, doctors from Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College, Deralakatte. Total 117 patients turned up for the camp making it successful.

Medical Camp at Banpadhadka

A medical camp was held at Banpadhadka School Hall on 11.01.14. The camp was organized by “Canara Organization for Peace and Development”. Mr Narayana Bhat, Headmaster of the school inaugurated the camp. Dr Roopa Baliga led a team of Post graduates and Interns to conduct the camp.

Basic Life Support Training Programme for Interns

A guest lecture was organized on Basic Life Support Training Programme for Interns on 1st and 2nd of January 2014 between 2.45 & 4.00 P.M. Dr. Shreedhara Avabratha K. Professor, Department of Paediatrics from Father Muller Medical College was the Resource person. The session started with the theoretical explanation of basic life support and its history.  He explained about CPR and also demonstrated various life supporting manoeuvres

Psychiatry Camp at FMHMC

Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College Hospital had organized a camp on the common psychiatric disorders like Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Phobias, Panic Episodes, Obsessive Compulsive Disorders and Insomnia from 16th to 21st of December 2013.

Posters of psychiatric health education were exhibited at the reception, consulting room and patient waiting lounge that aided the visitors to acquire information. The Post Graduates presented a slide show on these disorders and also demonstrated certain relaxation techniques and other auxiliary measures such as  light music for meditation.

Inauguration of Women Guidance and Counselling Committee

Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College formed a Women Guidance and Counselling Committee, that was inaugurated on 18.12.13. The female staff and the employees of the college gathered at the auditorium to attend the programme. Dr Sheena Salin is assigned as the Coordinator of the committee with the other members being Mrs Nancy Mascarenhas, Dr Vidya Angaraje, Dr Anusha, Dr Shara Ram. Mrs Vidya. N, Faculty in School of Social Work, Roshini Nilaya, Mangalore was the Chief Guest. The Chief Guest addressed the group on “Social Issues, Conflicts and its Management”.

Christmas Celebration at Prashanth Nivas

Christmas celebration at Prashanth Nivas, an old age home at Mangalore was organized by FMHMC, on 17th December. The students of FMHMC performed a mime depicting "The birth of Jesus Christ", and the girls sang Christmas carols. The Post graduates entertained the inmates by conducting various games.

Christmas celebrations were held at the FMCI on 14th Dec 2013, infront of the Father Muller Medical College Hospital block. Various cultural events were performed by the students of FMHMC, FMMC and FMCON. Students of FMHMC presented a mime on "The Birth of Jesus Christ".

AIDS Awareness Programme 2013

The NSS unit of Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College, Deralakatte in collaboration with    B A Industrial Training Institute, Thumbay, convened an AIDS Awareness Camp on 06.12.13, under the leadership of Dr Ranjan Britto, NSS Co-ordinator, FMHMC. The programme was held to create awareness about AIDS among the students of the Industrial Training Institute.

Dr Revan B L lecturer, Department of Repertory, FMHMC addressed the gathering by giving information about Homoeopathic system of medicine and also briefed them on the college activities.

Dr Prajnya Alva, PG student, Department of Organon of Medicine gave an awareness talk about AIDS with the help of media. It was fruitful in clearing many misconceptions and doubts regarding the dreaded disease that was well appreciated.

This was followed by screening of a short film “PRARAMBHA”, which spread a message among the youth on dealing with patients suffering from AIDS.

The main attraction of the programme was a Mime presentation by the NSS volunteers belonging to I BHMS FMHMC. It gained a tremendous applause from the audience.

CCH Inspection

A team of inspectors, Dr Arvind Kote & Dr Ajay Singh Parihar from CCH visited our college & hospital on 27.11.2013 as a part of CCH inspection for enhancement of seats.

Rural Health Camp - Sampajje

A General Medical camp, Homoeopathic Awareness campaign and a Health Education Programme were organized by Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College in one of the rural areas of Kodagu District, Sampajje, on 20th November 2013.

Children's Day Celebration and Paediatric Camp

The Paediatric unit of the out-patient department of Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital organized a free health check-up for one week from 14th to 20th November 2013 with the theme “Malnutrition” on the eve of Children’s day.

On Children’s day, 2 competitions were conducted like the Healthy baby for 5-10 yrs age group in which 17 children participated and Drawing for 11-14yrs age group in which 19 children participated. The topic given for drawing competition was “Seasons”.

To convey messages on “Malnutrition”, Awareness talk was given with printed handouts and a nutritive pack containing dry fruits was handed over to the patients.

The postgraduates and interns took active part in decorating the paediatric unit, conducting the competitions and distributing sweets to the children who visited the OPD on this special day.

There were patients mostly from the nearby locality and schools.

On the same day evening, 60 children of the De Mercide Ashram at Paneer were given gifts, sweets and the nutritive pack.

It was a real time of joy for the children and it was a pleasure for us doctors to see such bliss on the faces of these innocent children.

CME on Bioethics

A CME on Bioethics was organized by the ethical committee of Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College, in association with UNESCO Chair in Bioethics, South India Unit, FMCI, Mangalore, as a part of Faculty Development Programme, on 11.11.13.

The Resource persons were Dr Princy Palatty, Professor, Department of Pharmacology, FMMC, Dr Madona Joseph, HOD, Department of Forensic Medicine, Dr Nagesh K R, Professor Department of Forensic Medicine, Dr Rashmi Mathai, Assistant Professor, Dept of Medicine, Dr M S Baliga.

Diwali Celebration 2013

The festival of lights was celebrated enthusiastically by the students, teachers and the management of Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College. The programme was conducted in the college auditorium.

Towards the end of the programme, medals and certificated were handed over to the winners of Rubicon 2013 and to the athletics team of the college, who participated in the Rajiv Gandhi University Athletic Meet, Dharwad. The programme concluded with the distribution of sweets.

Release of Pioneer 2013

The release of the annual college magazine, PIONEER 2013 was held on 31/10/13, at the college auditorium. Dr P Chakraborty was the editor of the magazine. Prof. Dr. Rajendra Prasad, The Principal and Dean of A.B.Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences was the Chief Guest. Rev.Fr. Patrick Rodrigues, Director, FMCI presided over the function. This is the first time in FMHMC, the student council has ventured into the task of editing, designing, printing and producing a magazine.

Annual Sports Meet - "RUBICON"

The Annual Sports meet was held at Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College. The events were organized and conducted in the following categories - Indoor, Outdoor, Athletics, Staff athletics and fun games. It started on August 13th 2013 and the finale was conducted on 26th Oct 2013. Inauguration of the meet was done by the Chief Guest Rev Fr Peter Noronha, founder director of Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College and the administrator Rev Fr Vincent Vinod Saldanha.

Inauguration of Homoeo OPD at Thumbay

A new Homoeopathic Out Patient Department was inaugurated at Father Muller Hospital, Thumbay on 21.10.2013. Dr Sadashivananda, District Ayush Officer was the Chief Guest. Mr Mohammed Valavoor, President, Grama Panchayat was the Guest of Honour. Rev Fr Patrick Rodrigues, Director, FMCI presided over the function.

Homoeopathic Conference 2013

The National Level Annual Homoeopathic Conference was organized by Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College which was held on 19th October 2013 on the theme “Homoeopathy in Psychiatry”. The Chief Guest was Dr Kumar M Dhawale, Director, Dr M.L. Dhawale Memorial Homoeopathic Institute. Dr K.A. Joseph, Founder Principal, FMHMC was the Guest of Honour. Rev. Fr Patrick Rodrigues, Director, FMCI presided over the function

Dr Ashok Mohanthy in his sessions emphasized with examples that observation is the key to understand the behavior of the patients to analyze the mental state and treat them.

Dr K.M. Dhawale spoke on the importance of In-patient management in acute emergency cases and diagnosing the conflict of the patient through anamnesis becomes the base for resolution of the problem.

Dr Girish Navada U.K. defined his experiences in appropriate observation, perception of the disease, application of similimum and the treatment of psychiatric cases that brings recovery in a case of mentally challenged individual.

Over 300 delegates attended the seminar. A short Alumni meet was held in the campus after the scientific sessions.

"Totziens 13" was the farewell programme organized by the junior students of Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College, to bid farewell to the Final year students, the Silver Jubilee batch, on October 17th 2013, at the college auditorium.

Freshers' Day - "AHLAN WA SAHLAN"

Freshers day was organized for the 2013-14 batch of BHMS students on 11.10.13, 2.00pm at the college auditorium. The Freshers portrayed their various talents.

Blood Donation Camp

The NSS unit of Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College in collaboration with the Blood Bank of Father Muller Medical College and Hospital organized a blood donation camp on 10.10.13. The programme was arranged at the Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College Hospital Out Patient Department. Prof. U.T Ifthikar Ali, Syndicate Member RGUHS was the Chief Guest.

Blood Grouping and Typing Camp

The NSS unit of Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College held a blood grouping and blood typing campaign for the inmates of St Antony Ashram, Jeppu on 07.10.13. The programme was coordinated by Dr Ranjan Britto, NSS Coordinator, FMHMC and Dr Shara Ram, Medical Officer, St Antony Charity Institute. 42 volunteers participated in the drive. Beneficiaries were 258. 

The purpose of this campaign was to reach out to blood donors in case of emergencies who require transfusions instantly, skipping the blood typing and grouping procedure at crucial times.

PG Programme Inauguration

The inauguration of the I–M.D Course 2013-14 took place at the PG seminar Hall at 9.30 A.M in Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College.

Camp on Menstrual Complaints and Abnornal Vaginal DIscharges

The OBG unit of Out Patient Department of FMHMCH organized a free medical camp from 23/09/13 to 28/09/13 on “Menstrual Complaints and the Abnormal Vaginal Discharges”. 

         Talks on problems regarding the complaints in females such as menstrual disorders were given to the PUC students of nearby schools two days before the camp and also to the patients who visited the camp through a power point presentation.  A total of 65 patients reported and were benefitted.

NSS Day 2013

NSS day was celebrated at Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College on 25th September 2013 at 2.00 PM in the college Auditorium. The Theme for NSS day is “Healthy youth for Healthy India”. Based on this theme, to maintain Health among all, keeping environment clean and fertile, “Go Green” campaign took place in our campus.

The Chief Guest for the “Go GREEN” campaign was Mr Dinesh M Nayak, Advisor Green Belt SEZ Ltd, Mangalore. He addressed the gathering on medicinal herbs that are indigenous and extinct. Also he cleared the queries raised by the students and gave a list of plants that are wrongly identified.

As an initiative, the NSS volunteers involved themselves in removing the littered plastic in and around the campus. Also they posted placards saying “No to Plastic”, “Avoid Plastic, Save Earth” “Go Green”.

Recreation for Geriatric Age group of St.Antony's Ashram

Fr. Muller Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital, Deralakatte organized a Tulu Movie show for the geriatric inmates as a part of recreational activities in St. Anthony Charitable Institues, Jeppu on 15.09.13 at 4:30pm in St. Victor Memorial Hall, St. Anthony Ashram, Jeppu

General Medical Camp at Bedrampalla School

A Health Education Programme and General Medical Camp (mega Camp) was Organized by CODP at Bedrampalla School Hall (via Vitla-Perla) on Sunday 22-09-2013. The medical team was headed by Dr Revan B L. The Camp was successful as more than 150 patients were examined and treated.

Onam Celebration at FMHMC

SHILPI 2013 - Teachers Day Celebration

The students of Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College expressed their gratitude to the teachers by celebrating Teacher’s day on 5th September 2013.

As a part of the event, the Director Rev Fr Patrick Rodrigues congratulated the teaching faculty and addressed the gathering. Students presented their Guruvandhanam in the form of fruits and flowers handed over to the teaching faculty in the presence of Rev Fr Vincent Vinod Saldanha.

To make the programme more lively and entertaining, students organized fun games to the teaching staff and teachers too actively participated with good spirit. The student council president Mr chandrashekhar gave welcome speech and Ms Sharon Monisha general secretary of student council gave away vote of thanks.

Haemorrhoids and Renal Stones Health camp

The surgery unit of Out Patient Department of Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College Hospital organised a free medical camp on Hemorrhoids and Urinary stones in the OPD from 26.08.13 to 31.08.13. All the doctors of four surgery units attended the camp from 9.00 AM to 3.00 PM. A total number of 56 patients visited the camp. Among them 23 cases were haemorrhoids and 24 were Urinary stones and 9 suffered from both the conditions.

Inauguration of BHMS Course 2013-14

The BHMS course for the Year 2013-14 was Inaugurated On Wednesday, the 4th September 2013 at 9:50 am at the college Auditorium. Dr S.Ramananda Shetty, Honourable Vice Chancellor of Nitte University, was the Chief Guest, Rev Fr Patrick Rodrigues, Director, FMCI presided over the function. Rev Fr Vincent Saldanha, Administrator, FMHMC welcomed the president. Dr Shivaprasad, In-charge Principal, introduced the Chief Guest. The Chief guest in his inaugural address congratulated the new students for selecting Homoeopathic system of Medicine as their profession. Dr Sunny Mathew, Medical Superintendent gave away the vote of thanks.

PTS Meeting

Parent-Teacher-Student Meetings were conducted in the College on 31-08-2013 for I & II BHMS students and on 02-09-2013 for III & IV BHMS students.

          Both the days the inauguration started at 10 AM in the college Auditorium. The resource person for the events was Mrs Mamatha Bhandary. The Resource person addressed both students and their parents.

KALOTHSAVA 2013

Kalothsava - 2013, Inter class cultural fest was conducted in Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical college from 26-08-2013 to 29-08-2013. It was a wonderful platform to portray the talents of the students of FMHMC.

A health education programme and General Medical camp was organized by CODP in association with father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College was held on Sunday 18-08-2013 at Community Hall, Adyanadka.

67th Independence Day Celebration

67th Independence Day was celebrated at Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College. Deralakatte, by hoisting the National Flag by Rev. Fr Peter Norohna, the Founder director of the College. The message was delivered by the Chief Guest, and he conveyed the students a beautiful message of the day and explained the students that we are free and also not free, free to express our views but not free to be immoral but we need to cater the needs of the society by being moral. He also said during his speech that peace comes from smile and one needs to be generous.

The formal programme was followed by Tableau competition for the students. Different themes were presented with lot of patriotic zeal.

Allergy and Asthma Camp at FMHMC

One week long asthma and Allergy camp was held between July 29th to August 3rd in Father Muller Homoeopathic medical College, Deralakatte. It was conducted from 9 AM to 3 PM everyday throughout the week. A total of 86 new patients registered and received the benefits of the camp. Free check-up, free treatment, free investigations were provided to these patients.

VANAMAHOTHSAVA

"Vanamahotsava" was held on August 1st 2013 at the Botanical garden of Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College, Deralakatte.

   The programme began at 3.30 pm with the welcome speech by Mr Deeraj Fernandes, Student representative of NSS Unit. Our Administrator, Rev Fr Vincent Vinod Saldanha spoke on this occasion. In his message he stressed on protection of greenery in and around the institution, creating awareness among students regarding fortifying the ecosystem by taking the initiative of planting more plants.

  The most important part of the programme was then carried out by planting the saplings by the Administrator, Principal Dr Srinath Rao, Vice Principal Dr Shivaprasad K, NSS Coordinator Dr Ranjan C Britto, President & Secretary of Students’ Association Mr Chandrashekar, Ms Sharon D’Souza and Student representatives of NSS unit.

PRERANA'13

FMHMC hosted, for the 5th consecutive year, PRERANA - an intercollegiate literary and cultural fest for the PUC students of Dakshina Kannada & Udupi districts, on 26th and 17th of July 2013. About 800 students from 30 PU Colleges participated in the extravaganza. Dr.Sheena Salin was the Convener.

Doctors' Day Celebration

In order to commemorate the contributions of Dr B.C Roy in the field of medicine, Doctors’ Day was celebrated at Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College Deralakatte on Monday the 22nd July 2013. The teaching faculty and the Post Graduates gathered in the college auditorium at 2.30 PM to receive a talk on “Professional Etiquette” by the Guest Speaker Dr Vina Vaswani, Professor, Yenepoya Medical College, Director, Centre for Ethics & Secretary, Yenepoya University Ethics Committee,  as a part of Faculty Development Programme on the occasion.

Inauguration of STUDENTS ASSOCIATION

For the first time at Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College, A Students’ Association was formed and inaugurated on 27th June 2013, Thursday at 3 PM. The inauguration was done by Rev. Fr. Denis D’Sa, Administrator, Father Muller Medical College. Dr Srinath Rao welcomed the gathering and introduced the Chief Guest as well as the new Administrator of FMHMC, Rev. Fr. Vincent Vinod Saldhana. Dr Shivaprasad, Staff Advisor of the Students’ Association introduced the President and the Office Bearers of the Students’ Association. He explained the duties and the functioning of the council followed by the Oath taking ceremony by the student council.

Rev.Fr.Wilfred Prakash D'Souza was relieved of the duty as the administrator of FMHMC on 14.06.13 and Rev.Fr.Vincent Vinod Saldanha took charge as the new administrator of FMHMC.

Hospital New Block Inauguration

On10.05.2013 Friday at 3.30 P.M, the newly constructed Operation theatre, Emergency unit, Labor rooms and an advanced medical laboratory was inaugurated by Dr B.T Rudresh M.D(Hom), President, Karnataka Board of Homoeopathic System of Medicine. Most Rev. Dr. Aloysius Paul D’ Souza, Bishop of Mangalore, President, FMCI blessed the new block with a prayer service and presided over the programme. Rev Fr Wilfred Prakash D’ Souza, Administrator welcomed the gathering and Dr Srinath Rao, Principal, FMHMC introduced the Chief Guest. Health Exhibition at Kannur - Arogya 13

An exhibition cum seminar was held in Kannur Chamber hall, conducted by IHMA(Kannur chapter) in association with Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College, Mangalore on May 5th and 6th, 2013. The programme was inaugurated by Hon’ble Minister K.C Joseph. A team comprising under graduates, post graduates and staff from Father Mullers created awareness on homoeopathy, its evolution, sources, preparation, mode of action and some common life style diseases to the general public.

Hahnemann Day – 2013

The 258th Birth anniversary of Dr Samuel Hahnemann was celebrated on 9th April; Prof. T.C Shivashankara Murthy, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Mangalore University was the Chief Guest.  The Guest of Honour was Dr Dinesh Rajkumar Samuel, distinguished Alumnus, FMHMC. Dr Blany Lobo, was the convenor of the programme. As a part of the celebrations, Homoeopathic Medical Quiz, Debate, Extempore, Homoeopathic Drug Picture Presentation competitions were conducted and prizes were awarded to the winners.

On Tuesday the 2nd April, 2013, the Interns’ training programme was inaugurated at 9.30 AM. Institutions day cum Graduation Ceremony - 2013

Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College celebrated the Institutions’ day cum Graduation Ceremony on Wednesday March 13, 2013. 71 UG students and 20 PG students graduated during the event. The programme began by invocation song by our college students followed by welcome report reading by Rev. Fr Patrick Rodrigues, Director, FMCI. Dr H. S. Ballal, Prochancellor, Manipal University was the chief guest of the function and guest of honour was Mr M. N. Prakash, IAS, deputy Commissioner. Dr K. P Anjali, Homoeopathic Graduate from FMHMC was the graduate representative and gave her response during the event. 10 students were honoured and awarded for their outstanding academic performances. A team of students from FMHMC performed a mime and a dance during the cultural programme.

International Womens' Day - 2013

International Women’s Day was observed at Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College Hospital and the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology organised a Health Awareness Programme on this occasion and women above 30 years were given free consultation, Investigation and treatment. The chief guest of the function was Dr Jacintha Martis, Prof. Dept. of Dermtology, Father Muller Medical College. Dr Srinath Rao, welcomed the gathering. Dr Sunny Mathew offered a Bouquet to the Chief Guest and Rev Fr Wilfred Prakash D’ Souza felicitated her with a memento as a token of love. A training programme for AYUSH doctors under National Rural Health Mission, in the subject of Mother and Child Health, sponsored by Directorate of AYUSH, Government of Karnataka, Bangalore has been organised at Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College, Deralakatte from 4th to 18th March 2013. Dr Srinath Rao, The Principal, welcomed the gathering. Mr Shekhar Kaneerthota, President, Kotekar Panchayat was the chief guest and Rev Fr Patrick Rodrigues, Director, Father Muller Charitable Institutions presided over the function. 15 NRHM doctors have enrolled for the reorientation programme. A team of doctors from Active Homoeopathy International have conducted campus recruitment interview for our outgoing batch of interns on 27th February 2013 between 9.30 AM and 3.30 PM.

All Spoke Inspiring words to the Outgoing Interns and stressed on hard work. The Speakers Congratulated the Interns for Becoming Doctors and Expressed Appreciation to each one.

A Token of Appreciation was given by the Interns to all the Staff.

The Function was formally ended by the Vote of Thanks by Maithreyi.

Workshop on "Conflict Management"

A faculty development programme was organised by the Management of Father Muller Homoeopathic medical College for the teaching staff on 14.02.13. Dr Srinath Rao, Principal welcomed the gathering. The Administrator Rev. Fr. Wilfred Prakash D’souza and Dr Shivaprasad, Vice Principal & Chairperson shared a few words about the programme. Rev. Fr. Pradeep Sequeira was the resource person for the day.
